The world has acknowledged real fact that the original source of Sufism is valley elysien and divine valley of Kashmir. It was under the divine & spiritual command of great prophet Hazrat Mohammad SAW that sufi saints Hazrat Abdul Rehman Bulbul Shah was directed to come to Kashmir. Great prophet conveyed it to Hazrat Bulbul Shah that you visit Kashmir & Kashgar which is on the borders of China where the king will receive you and accept islam. The history is witness of the fact that when Hazrat Bulbul Shah arrived Kashmir and made Bulbul lanker as his meditation place. The prince of Kashgar Ranchan Shah who is also named as Renzu Shah as per historical books of Dr. G M D Sufi Khawja Dedmari and others, had taken over the kingship of entire Kashmir stretching from Kashmir to Kashgar. He was himself Bhudist and his wife Kuta Rani of highest Brehman spiritual leader Raman Chandran and senior Minister of kingdom. In this background when highest personalities of Islam, Bhudism and Hinduism join together and conducted three days and three nights religious historical conference in the palace of the Bhudist king where at present women’s college Nawakadal is constructed. The conference yielded into a real conviction of the facts and as per spiritual directives Ranchan Shah adopted Islam and submitted his discipleship to reverent Hazrat Bulbul Shah to gave him the title of Sultan Sadru-ud-din Shah and foundation of Muslim sultanate was laid.

This historical occasion is the clear fact that the Sufi origin started from this place when all religions coexisted in the atmosphere of brotherhood, tranquility and peace. The historical books reveal that Sultan Sadru-ud-din become so popular that he was termed as lion of Kashmir and so many histirical books called him bravest ever king of Kashmir who defeated tyrant Dulcha, whose armay invaded and plundered Kashmir . Sultan Sadru-ud-din not only rebuilt entire Kashmir within short period but also honour to construct Jamia awal at Aalikadal Khanqah of Bulbul Shah at Bulbul lanker where he himself was laid to eternal rest when entire Kashmir mourned for him. In this background the Kashmir Society has created International center of Sufism which will work for projection of all Sufi saints of world particularly who followed the Hanfi school of Aatiqad after its foundation were laid by Hazrat Bulbul Shah in Kashmir. The contribution of such reverent sufi saints in strengthening the mutual love and brotherhood throughout the world, in subcontinent and most prominently in valley of Kashmir is extraordinary & worth to be highlighted so that our new generation are able to carry forward the message of peace and mutual love to our posterity.

Chairman’s Message

Kashmir Sufism Society (KSS), a non profit organisation which aims to highlight Sufi thoughts of Kashmir, propagates the teachings of Bulbul Shah, the founder of Sufism in Kashmir, Sheikh-Ul-Alam and other Sufi saints. Its objective is to bring about a positive change in every aspect of the society, including conservation of nature, and spread the message of Sufi saints to make the world beautiful by divine thoughts and noble deeds.

Founders of the organisation, Khwaja Farooq Rezu Shah (Chairman), Owais Raheem (co-founder) and Reetu Asrani (co-founder), believe that Kashmir is the epitome of Sufism and is the only place on earth which has been visited by such revered,
spiritual personalities like Guru Nanak Dev, Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita, Jesus Christ, Prophet Suleiman, Rumi and Shankaracharya, among others.

The enchantingly beautiful land of Kashmir is the true reflection of Paradise. The pristine environment and the charismatic landscape meticulously crafted by nature lend a divine aura to the valley. Famous Sufi saint Bulbul Shah was able to persuade the king of the time Rinchen Shah, to adopt Islamic way of life. The foundation of Sufiyana composite culture was laid when Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists started coexisting in an atmosphere of love and brotherhood. Devotion in human life, simplicity, discipline and sanctity are the guiding spirit behind the Sufi cult. Since then thousands of Sufi saints, in the past several centuries, have spread the light of Sufism. Their sacred thoughts and deeds illuminated the land and the minds of the people.
